LETTER TO THE PUBLIC
From Superintendent Andy Chisum
Dear Mayflower School District Families and Community,
As many of you know, Act 123 of 2025 provides one free breakfast per day for every student enrolled in a public school. I am proud to share that the Mayflower School District will also provide one lunch and one super snack each day at no cost to every student during the 2025–2026 school year. All students attending the Mayflower School District will receive breakfast, lunch, and an afternoon super snack at no cost.
This achievement is the result of years of persistent effort and support from the Mayflower Board of Education, and we are thrilled to see this goal finally realized. These meals will be provided at no cost to our students’ families through our school food service program.
Over the summer, our food service team, in partnership with OPAA!, has been serving meals to approximately 300 children per week—again, completely free of charge to families. We are incredibly thankful for the opportunity to support our community in this way.
For perspective, the no-cost breakfast and lunch program represents a potential annual savings of over $750 per child for our families. We hope this added financial relief will make a meaningful difference for our families, but we do need your help.
IMPORTANT: ACTION REQUIRED
In order to maintain this program beyond the 2025–2026 school year, we need every family with a student in the Mayflower School District to complete and submit a meal application this year. While all students will receive meals at no cost this year, the data from these applications is critical to securing funding and approval for the future of the program. You can find the meal application on our district website at mayflower.school
Thank you for your continued support of our schools and students. We look forward to a successful school year filled with learning, opportunity, and shared growth.
Warm regards,
Andy Chisum, Superintendent
