MMS is proud to announce our 2021-2022 Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Haley Storms! Mrs. Storms teaches 6th grade science and social studies. She does an incredible job with planning engaging, fun lessons. Students and teachers alike love her. She is an asset to our building and to our district! She is pictured with MMS Assistant Principal Leah Campbell and MMS Principal Rick Gales. We are so proud of Mrs. Storms and we are thankful she is ours!

MMS Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, August 16th, from 5-7 pm! Here are some additional details: - 7/8 grades: Enter through doors by the new gym to pick up schedules. Lockers are preassigned. - 5/6 grades: Enter through the main entrance. - Students can take supplies to their homeroom (5/6), to their locker or their 2nd period teacher (7/8). The computer lab will be open for parents needing to complete registration. We hope to see you there! #mmsTHRIVE

This request for input is being shared with stakeholders from ForwARd Arkansas. ForwARd Arkansas is a nonprofit focused on the state-wide improvement of education in Arkansas. Earlier this summer, Forward launched a new project, in partnership with DESE, called the "State of Education in Arkansas." If you'd be willing, we would love to have your input and voice as a part of this project. Over the next many months, we will be coordinating an extensive effort to gather as much input as possible from district leaders, school leaders, educators, and families across Arkansas. Our plan is that this project will lead to a report that elevates: Where the state has made progress in education over the last 5 years Where we are currently, especially in light of the COVID pandemic Critical education priorities for the next 5 years informed by those in districts, schools, and communities We have launched a brief survey (5 to 7 mins) that is appropriate for any stakeholder. Jr High Volleyball is having tryouts for any 8th and 9th grade girls wanting to play during this upcoming season. Tryouts will be from 10am - 12pm on August 4th in the middle school gym. If you have any questions please contact Coach Bowden at rbowden@mayflowerschools.org

P-EBT Instructions for Parents 1. Consider whether your student(s) qualifies for P-EBT benefits: a. Does my student free/reduced eligibility status? i. I was approved for free or reduced meal benefits based on approval of a free/reduced meal application OR ii. My child qualifies through direct certification (SNAP eligible) OR iii. My school qualifies for special status through CEP or Provision 2 AND b. Was my student absent due to a COVID-19 isolation or quarantine? 2. If the answer is yes to BOTH of the questions (a and b) above, your student qualifies and you should contact your child’s school for an application. 3. Return/submit the completed application (either via google form or paper application) to your child’s school by July 29, 2022. 4. Await processing and receipt of P-EBT card (could be a several weeks)

Registration is officially open for returning students! This must be completed by August 23rd. Snap codes have been sent to the email address we have on file. If you don’t see the snap code email, be sure to check your junk mail. Office staff will be available beginning August 9th to answer questions.

Here is the MMS supply list for the coming school year! Please feel free to share with anyone who may need this information. We are looking forward to seeing all of our students in August! Meanwhile, we hope that you are enjoying your summer and are staying cool in this heat!

Today wrapped up the 2021-2022 school year at MMS! Be safe, have fun, and we’ll see you in August! Be on the lookout for updates concerning next school year.

Report cards for MMS students may be picked up from the front office June 2 and 3, from 8 am to 4 pm. After 4 pm on June 3rd, they will be available for pickup at MSD central office. Of course, parents can login and view their student’s grades on HAC anytime. Reminder: Tomorrow is the last day of school for the 2021-2022 school year!

We had SUCH a fun time at field day at MMS today! HUGE thanks to our PTO, parent volunteers, and to our MHS student volunteers (and to Mrs. Thacker who recruited them!) More pictures of this event, along with 8th grade promotion, will be posted to Facebook tomorrow. For tonight, I think we will all sleep well!

Tomorrow is going to be a great day at MMS! We will have field day during the day. Students should wear or bring a white tshirt for color wars, along with a water bottle and money for snacks if they would like to buy these optional items. Sunscreen is also a good idea! Tomorrow night from 6-7, we will have a drive-thru style event for 8th grade promotion. Please call the school if you have questions about this. We are ready to finish strong in our final week of school! The last day of school is Friday, May 27th.

Huge thanks to First Security Bank in Mayflower for providing lunch to the MMS staff today! We enjoyed burgers, hot dogs, and chips! We appreciate our community partners who are so supportive of the work done in our local schools.

Happy Speech-Language Pathologist Day to Mrs. Sarah Hahn! Her love for our students and can-do spirit is an asset to our school and is an inspiration to those who know her!

Happy School Nurse Appreciation Day to Nurse Elliott! She is an amazing nurse, and she takes care of our students and staff at MMS and MHS. We are so thankful that she is here to watch over us!

MMS teacher Hanna Kordsmeier was named the 2022 Mental Health Champion for Faulkner County! She also received a Certificate of Appreciation in honor of dedicated service to children. Miss Kordsmeier demonstrates Arisa Health's theme "Teaching is a Work of Heart." We are so proud of her!

The MMS PTO is spoiling our staff rotten for Teacher Appreciation Week! So far, we have enjoyed a scrumptious dessert bar, yummy breakfast, free car wash and oil changes from Splash Car Wash, Buff City Soap, and drawings for door prizes! Thank you SO MUCH to everyone has helped and contributed so far! We can’t wait to see what the rest of the week brings.
